CTP takes part in a number of projects dealing with the processing of sludge in general and sediment in particular. An initial characterization is crucial to be able to apply the most cost-effective and suitable treatment for the beneficial use of these materials which are often distributed across a wide area, either with low intrinsic value but available in large quantities, or present in small quantities with a high intrinsic value.
The aim is to end-up with outgoing flows presenting consistent characteristics over time, to transmit to value-enhancing industries (materials or energy). The relevant sectors are as diverse as traditional ceramics, cement works, construction materials, agriculture, etc. This expertise was developed at the Walloon region level and also within cross-border collaborations (France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen) and at European level (Exchange of Good Practices in North West Europe).
