Although originally devoted exclusively to the processing of mineral materials, CTP has broadened its activities and invested in cutting edge equipment and technology for the separation and sorting of plastic materials, polymers and composites. The traditional stages of shredding, grinding and densimetric or gravimetric separation can be tested at pilot scale, but other more specific stages are also available, such as cryogenic grinding and triboelectric separation, for example. The initial characterization is also very important, especially due to the possible heterogeneity and dirtiness of such waste stream (household waste, "plastics" containers, industrial by-products, etc.). Finally, cutting edge procedures can also lead to an agglomeration in the form of purified fine fraction granules, for use as alternative fuels or recycling in materials.
