Materials Laboratory

The recycling of waste and of industrial by-products predominantly mineral in nature is one of the activities pertaining to CTP’s core business.

In this context, the Centre has acquired very specific expertise in the area of the development of circular materials based on this waste and these by-products which accordingly become secondary materials (SM). This expertise is primarily geared towards the recycling of the SM in the form of materials for use in the BPW sector.

To provide itself with a foundation for this initiative the CTP has equipped  itself with a high-performance ‘Materials’ Laboratory capable of carrying out the different tests inherent to the use of SM in BPW:

  • Pre-treatment and characterisation of secondary materials ;
  • The application of materials made from them;
  • A workability assessment through consistency tests measuring rheological behaviour;
  • Measurement of setting time;
  • Mechanical characterizations (modulus of elasticity: E and G, flexural strength and resistance to compression, resistance to mechanical shock and cracking, etc.)
  • Leaching tests with analysis of solutions to ensure compliance with environmental norms.
