The glass industry (packaging) has practised recycling for many years, and collection methods are well established. However, these practices are applied to sheet glass nowadays, with specific problems arising from the materials available, especially in demolition and deconstruction (glazing coming with wooden, PVC or aluminium frames, for example). Related flows (glass grinding or polishing sludge, glass fibres) are also increasingly processed for recycling at some stage in the production of sheet glass. Finally, the upstream processing of mineral primary materials and their partial substitution by secondary materials has been subject to CTP expertise projects, either in collaboration with primary materials producers, with the holders of secondary raw materials or with the glass industry, and finally within collaborative projects.
